2012 Bertand Ligier
2012 Bertrand Ligier
Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back and sides. Sides laminated with Mahogany
650 scale
Country of Origin: France
This is a very unique, very special guitar by Ligier. It was his 30th guitar (he only makes 4/5 guitars every year), and he did exactly what every young person should when starting one’s career-standing on the giants’ shoulders. This guitar is a buffet of all the things we love about the French school guitars: headstock and rosette paying homage to Robert Bouchet, laminated sides like Daniel Friederich, and he fully employed Dominique Field’s bracing system. You heard me right - all of the greatest of the French in one guitar!
This guitar is extremely beautiful throughout. The level of the French polish is extremely high. It is classy and refine looking, and the sound is as beautiful as the guitar looks. It has clear, powerful trebles, and rich and full basses. Some luthiers have to choose between building a guitar with good trebles or good basses, but Ligier figured out how to build with both from the early stage of his career!
Ligier does not build this model anymore. He had developed his own bracing system and designs, which are fantastic! However, this French school “three in one” deal is no longer available besides this guitar!
A Robert Bouchet is usually around 100k USD, a Dominique Field is around 50k USD, and a late stage Friederich is usually sold around 60k USD. Friederich guitars built after the 2000s are usually worth even more.
